Fordingbridge Town under 11's secured the league title with a
hard fought 0-0 draw at second placed Bishops Waltham last Saturday.
Bishops Waltham, who needed to win to take the league to the
last game of the season, pressed hard for much of the game but failed to beat
a resolute Fordingbridge defence in which Sam Spencer and Alex Goodwin were
magnificent. Keeper George Williams made some important stops but it was
Fordingbridge, through top goals corer Oliver O'Reilly and second top scorer
Zak Butler who could have taken the three points with late chances. Midfielder
Carl Martin gave a man of the match performance.
The result confirms the Under 11's as league winners with only
11 goals conceded during the entire season, a tribute to some no
nonsense defending and a hardworking midfield in which William Gould, Alfie
Rhoades, Jake Wareham and Jack Alvis have all been outstanding.
Goals have come from all over the park with O'Reilly and
Butler well supported by Jack Paget, Alex Coles and Louis Bromilow.
Manager John Butler said "I'm exceptionally proud of all of
them, our goals against is the lowest conceded by any age group in any
division of the Testway League this season. We have also played some lovely
football going forward and opposing teams have struggled to cope with the pace
of our strikers"
